Scavenger Hunt Reflection 10_23_24

I thought that the search hunt we went on was quite fun, I didn't know how powerful search is. I've used search almost all my life to find things but never understood the computing power to find the data from anywhere. On one of the questions, I have to change my location, and my searches were skewed from my original location. It's interesting that based on where you are in the world, the internet will give you results that are close by or websites that are local to your region. I thought that this was very helpful for awareness purposes. It made us as a class to become more familiar with search and what it can exactly do. It makes me actually curious about what else info is out there and what I can find about myself or my family members. So, we know what's out there in the public, so we know for our reference.

I learned that those who know how to use search properly can almost find anything. It's insane that you can find certain info about people just using the web. It almost feels wrong, it makes me feel like a hacker. I also learned that a lot of info is out there about our past life's that aren't just on social media. For me my high school sports teams showed up which was a shocker because I would never have thought that my high school life would be available online for quite literally everyone and anyone to see.

To be honest it almost feels like an invasion of privacy that you can search and keep searching for info about people's lives without them even knowing. It's a little bit freaky to see that everybody has access to info online.
