Cybercrime is something that has evolved over the years especially in my life. I can remember the first time it happened to me was when I was 9 years old. I had an iPod touch I can remember very well because the person hacked it and was sending inappropriate messages to my family members over my iPod messages. I was shocked because as a kid all I used my iPod for was messaging my family members and playing cheap but very addicting phone games on that iPod. I remember my mom, sister and dad eventually found out that someone had tapped into my iPod messaging somehow and was able to send messages. We had to call apple; they were able to identify what the problem was. The tech people were able to stop the hacker and restored the iPod connection. That was a while ago now. But it makes me realize how much power these hackers truly have if they know what they're doing. Nowadays the only thing that happens to me is not really phishing emails but phishing phone messages. Like I get messages that say "hello" or "your package hasn't been shipped because the address YOU gave is incorrect, please click this link and put the correct address in." They also try to impersonate FEDEX or USPS. Another example was my mom was setting up her ROKU and we weren't able to find out how to set it up, so we called the help line, and an Indian guy scammed my mom, and she had to end up closing her credit card because immediately there was lots of charges and we couldn't call anyone to help because obviously the Indian guy used a fake name, so the police was no help. But it's wild because lots of this happens to people all over the world.
